The Role of Media in the Promotion of Government Organization Accountability

One of the features of democratic political systems is its accountability to respond their own responsibility. The media as a powerful element of civilization affecting public thoughts plays an important role in government responsiveness. To achieve this goal, the present study tries to investigate the effect of media on the improvement of the accountability of the government agencies. The statistical society of this research includes all male students of Ghaemshahr Azad University. 320 students are selected through sampling method by using Kerjesy and Morgan table. Applied research method is used in this survey. A questionnaire is used to collect the data required. In order to validate the instrument, appropriate questions related to each variable are extracted through valid sources and finally approved by authorities. To calculate the reliability of the questionnaire, Cronbach’s alpha is calculated to be 89. Since, the distribution of the data is normal, parametric statistical tests are used to testify the hypotheses. The findings represent that the media can be effective in making public organizations responsive by leading and training the public, unifying demands and monitoring and broadcasting. However, the results reveal that if the media are free and independent, the responsibility can be done better. Finally, it is concluded that in comparison to other media, TV is much more powerful than other medium.
