Biosynthesis of Cu/Fe3O4@MWCNTs magnetic nanocomposite using the Petasits hybridus rhizome water extract and its application in the synthesis of new spiropyrrolopyridine derivatives with antioxidant and antimicrobial properties

Abstract :
In recent years, the use of plant extracts in the synthesis of metal nanoparticles has attracted a lot of attention. In this research, the biosynthesis of magnetic nanoparticles of Cu/Fe3O4@MWCNTs MNCs was carried out using the aqueous extract of the Petasites hybridus rhizome, which has a reducing and stabilizing role. X-Ray diffraction (XRD), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to confirm the structure of the synthesized nanocatalyst. Magnetic nanoparticles of Cu/Fe3O4@MWCNTs MNCs as a high-performance catalyst for the preparation of a new family of functionalized spiropyrrolopyridines with antioxidant and antimicrobial properties through one-pot condensation reactions of isatin, primary amines, ethyl 2,4-dioxo-4-aryl butanoate, ammonium acetate and electron deficient acetylenic compounds were used in water as solvent at room temperature. The antioxidant property of some compounds prepared using diphenyl-picrylhydrazine (DPPH) radical was investigated. Also, in this research work, the antimicrobial activity of the synthesized compounds was investigated in the vicinity of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and compared with streptomycin and gentamicin as two standard antibacterial drugs. Short reaction time, easy purification steps and high yield of products are the advantages of this method.
