Studying the Origin and Roots of Some Farsi and Arabic Proverbs

Abstract :
Abstract A proverb is a kind of terse and well-known expression which has a cautionary story or event in itself. To understand the historical culture and manners of a nation, the proverbs are of basic matters which have serious values. Most of the proverbs, in addition to have real illustration of people's life, are the indications of mutual impact in the different ethnic cultures. Meanwhile, the effect of the Arabic and Persian cultures on each other, because of their contiguity, commercial relations, acceptance of Islam by Iranians, Arabs' dominance on great parts of Iran, is undeniable. We have selected some fairly important Arabic and Persian proverbs in this research and studied their themes, origin and their similarities and dissimilarities.
