Abstract :
Objective: to compare the findings of computed tomography (CT) angiography and the intraoperative findings in voluntary kidney donors. Method: 30 volontry kidney donors wich come to 22 Bahman hospital from summer 1386 to summer 1387 were studied. Renal CT angiography was performed for all of an patients. The images were analyzed by a radiologist to determine the number of renal arteries and veins. Then nephrectomy was performed in all of voluntary for the kidney which had no anatomical variation based on CT angiography the results of CT angiography were compared with the intraperative findings during nephrectomy. Result: voluntary kidney donors constituted 24 male and 6 Female and mean age was 29/3 year (20 to 45 years) Based on CT angiography findings 87/6% of right kidney and 90% of left kidney had single artery. Double artery was observed in 13/3% and 6/7% of right and left kidney respectively and triple artery was observed in 3.3% of left kidney. The incidence of multiple collecting system was 3/3% and 3/3% in right and left kidney respectively. In 67% left nephrectomy and in 33% right nephrectomy was performed. CT angiographic reportes about vascular and ureteral anatomy of the donor kidney were the same as intraoperative findings in all of our patients (100% correlation between CT angiography findings and intraoperative findings about artery and 97% about vein. Conclusion: CT angiography is a rapid, accurate and minimally invasive diagnostic method for renal vascular and collecting system anatomy that could take the replace of the conventional angiography in presurgical evaluation of live kidney donors.
