Identifying and Explaining the individual factors contributing to behavioral ambidexterity among employees of knowledge-based companies

Abstract :
Behavioral ambidexterity is being increasingly acknowledged as a critical factor in the enhancement of individual and organizational performance. In the contemporary business environment, most organizations require behavioral ambidexterity, meaning the ability to exhibit creativity and adaptability simultaneously. this research has been carried out with the aim of identifying and elucidating the individual factors contributing to behavioral ambidexterity among of employees of knowledge-based companies in the field of health, and the method used in this research is mixed (qualitative and quantitative). Initially, in the qualitative phase, semi-structured interviews with theoretical frameworks and employing targeted and snowball sampling techniques were conducted with 17 managers, senior experts from knowledge-based companies, and academic elites active in the health sector. Through a coding process, the resulting data facilitated the development of a data-based theory concerning individual factors that influence employee behavioral ambidexterity. Based on the findings of this section, the behavioral ambidexterity of employees is realized in knowledge-based companies based on individual factors of attitude/behavior/perception, skills, morale enhancements and internal motivation. In the subsequent quantitative phase, a sample of 297 employees from knowledge-based companies in the health sector in Tehran province was selected using simple probability sampling. The researcher-designed questionnaire underwent validation assessment regarding formal and content validity based on expert opinions and structural validity assessment through confirmatory factor analysis in PLS software. four hypotheses were proposed to evaluate the significance of the model and structural equation modeling techniques were employed in the assessment of the assumptions. Ultimately, the research hypotheses were confirmed.
