Abstract :
Introduction: Academic achievement has a lot positive psychological consequences and many factors has a role in predicting students’ academic achievement that from most important can be note personality characteristics and achievement motivation.Objective: Present research aim to predicting students’ academic achievement based on personality characteristics and achievement motivation.Method: This was a cross-sectional research from type of correlation and the statistical population included all girl students at the governmental high school of Pishva suburb in 2015-16 academic years. Totally 300 girl student were selected by multi-step cluster sampling method. All of them completed the questionnaires of personality characteristics (Costa &McCrae, 2006) and achievement motivation (Hermans, 1970) and the average of students considered as indicator of academic achievement.Results: The results of correlation showed neuroticism had a negative and significant relationship with academic achievement and agreeableness, conscientiousness and achievement motivation had a positive and significant relationship with academic achievement.
