Relationship of the Organizational Culture Based on the Islamic Values and Work Engagement in the Employees of the Municipality of the District 16 of Tehran.

Abstract :
The present study investigates the relationship of the organizational culture based on the Islamic values with work engagement in the employees of the municipality of the district 16 of Tehran. This research is descriptive and of correlational type. The statistical population of the study is all of the 482 employees of the Oil Company in the Municipality of the District 16 of Tehran. The sample was composed of 226 participants selected by the simple random sampling. The instruments of this research consisted of the Zarei Matin's organizational culture questionnaire (1998) and the Salanova and Shafley's (2001) work engagement questionnaire. Pearson correlation and stepwise regression analyses were used to test the research hypotheses. The results of the research show that only one the 24 components of organizational culture, that is, the community prayer, is not related significantly to work engagement. The other 23 components have correlation coefficients between 0.462 for self-discipline and 0.194 for cooperation, all significant at less than 0.05 level. Also, there is a significant relationship between organizational culture based on the Islamic values and work engagement of employees of the municipality of the district 16 of Tehran. The results of the stepwise regression analysis, with the three selected components of responsibility, creativity and innovation, and personal self-reflection, yielded a statistically significant multiple correlation of 0.560 with work engagement. Recommendations are given to the organizations on the basis of the present research.Keywords: organizational culture based on the Islamic values, work engagement
