Abstract :

The present study was conducted with the aim of comparing the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy and direct transcranial electrical stimulation on rumination, cognitive flexibility and emotional information processing in people suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. The current research was of applied type and a semi-experimental design of pre-test, post-test and follow-up with a control group. The statistical population of the study consisted of people suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, ages 20 to 45, who referred to psychological and psychiatric centers and clinics in Kish Island in 1403. The number of sample people in the present study was 45 people (N=15 in each group) who were selected purposefully. The research tools were the post-traumatic stress disorder questionnaire by Fua et al. (1993), the cognitive flexibility questionnaire by Dennis and Vand Roal (2020), the rumination response style questionnaire by Nolen Hoxima and Moro (1991) and the emotional information processing questionnaire by Bakker et al. (2017). The method of data analysis was analysis of variance with repeated measurements. The results of the research showed that cognitive-behavioral therapy reduced rumination and increased cognitive flexibility more than direct transcranial electrical stimulation (p<0.01). It can be concluded that cognitive-behavioral therapy is more effective than transcranial direct electrical stimulation on rumination, cognitive flexibility and emotional information processing in people with post-traumatic stress disorder
