Abstract :

"Surrealism" is a significant movement in 20th-century art that evokes aspects of hyperrealism, aiming to access universal truths through the unconscious mind, dreams, and philosophical reasoning. This article employs an analytical and descriptive method, referencing relevant documents, to explore the relationship between Nietzsche's philosophical ideas and the logical and artistic structures of the Surrealist movement, focusing on Sadegh Hedayat's intellectual framework in The Blind Owl (Bouffkor) and his engagement with this artistic movement. The findings show that Nietzsche’s ideas have profoundly influenced Surrealist artists, including Salvador Dalí and Sadegh Hedayat. Nietzsche's concept of the Apollonian-Dionysian duality, which juxtaposes order and chaos, is evident in Surrealist works, particularly in Dalí’s art. Among Hedayat’s surrealist stories influenced by Nietzsche’s thoughts are The Blind Owl, Stray Dog (Zinde Behgoor), Dash Akel, Three Drops of Blood, and Tomorrow (Farda). The strongest reflection of Nietzsche's philosophy appears in Hedayat's writing, revealing its integration within the Surrealist movement
