Allostatic Leadership in the Higher Education System in the Face of Crisis (Case Study: Covid 19)

Abstract :
Introduction: The present study seeks to provide new and appropriate insights and answers for academic leaders in times of crisis and unexpected situations that help them to experience better conditions in times of crisis and unforeseen situations and be able to To provide an appropriate response to conditions and environments.
Research methodology: The approach used in this research was a qualitative approach and the method of studying thematic analysis. Therefore, in this study, using purposive sampling method and semi-structured interview tools, 17 samples from different levels of deputy or management at the university or ministry level that participated in the study were interviewed.
Findings: The findings showed that the development of allostatic leaders in the form of three themes including understanding and strengthening emotional intelligence and social intelligence (12 concepts), management and coping stress to maintain performance and minimize burnout (10 concepts); and developing the dominant response under stressful and critical conditions (7 concepts). The results also showed that the best practices for using allostatic leadership at the university level in the form of three themes, including connecting with the scientific and academic community (13 concepts), distributing leadership (4 concepts); and communicating clearly (5 concepts) is categorized.
Conclusion: It seems that allostatic leaders, in addition to providing opportunities such as stress control, building mutual trust between faculty, staff, and students, and establishing appropriate communication with all stakeholders for better education and strengthening student interactions in critical periods, can through A compelling and thoughtful shared vision inspires faculty, staff, and students.
