Abstract :
Building on Holland’s occupational-characteristic theory this study attempted to explore the relationships between personality aspects and occupation preferences. This study sampled 850 first grade high school students from Sirjan. Data gathered was based on a questionnaire (Holland’s) and interviews wit the participants. On the basis of an inspection of the questionnaire answers and participants feedback, we were able to revise Holland’s’ questionnaire. In the earlier version of it (Holland’s’) participants were supposed to answer the questions by either yes or no which appeared inadequate in eliciting respondents’ views. Thus, we turned it into a Likert scale involving answers ranging from perfectly to never. The results of this study also lead to the development of a software with the capability of specifying participants’ personality type in terms of the six personality types in percentages.
