The effect of eight weeks of resistance training and HIIT training on the expression of neuropilin 1 in aged male obese rats

Abstract :

The current research was semi-experimental. 30 aged Wistar male field rats with an average age of 20-22 months were purchased from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Ferdowsi University, Faculty of Medical Sciences. At first, the animals were randomly divided into three groups of high-fat diet (10n₌), high-fat diet-resistance exercise group (10n₌), and high-fat diet-HIIT exercise group (10n₌). Resistance training consisted of 8 weeks and 5 weekly sessions of climbing a 1 meter ladder with 26 steps. In the first week, the amount of weights tied to the rats was 30% of their body weight, which gradually increased and reached about 200% of their body weight in the last week. Exercises were performed in 3 rounds of 4 repetitions, and 3 minutes of rest were taken between rounds and about 10 seconds between repetitions. . Forty-eight hours after the last training session, blood sampling was done at 8:00 AM. The resulting serum was used to measure the levels of the research's blood indices. To ensure the significance of the absence of differences between the groups, one-way analysis of variance and SPSS version 22 software were performed. The results showed that the sports activities of the present study were able to exert their protective effects through the change in the expression of the target gene. If the exercise is able to significantly increase Neuropolin 1 compared to the control group, which indicates the usefulness of such exercises in the process of aging and obesity. However, no significant difference was found between the HIIT and resistance training groups. Although, in order to fully prove this claim, more research is needed by examining other signaling and effector pathways as well as other factors involved in this field.
