Abstract :
This study aimd to determine the relationship between mothers’ emotional expressiveness with adolescents’ coping strategies with the mediating role of maternal anger rumination. The research design was descriptive-correlational and The statistical population included all male adolescent aged 12 to 15 years old in Tehran and their mothers. 293 of them were selected by random cluster sampling. Data were collected using emotional expressiveness questionnaire (King & Emmons, 1990), Sukhodolsky anger rumination scale (Sukhodolsky, Golub & Cromwell, 2001) and adolescent coping scale (Frydenberg & Lewis, 1999). findings showed that anger rumination mediate the relationship between mothers' emotional expressiveness and adolescents' coping strategies. It was also found that the positive emotion expressiveness and the expression of intimacy have direct relationship with the compromised coping strategies in Adolescents. In general, this research confirmed the role of mothers' emotional characteristics and indicators in the development of adolescents' coping skills. It seems that the improvement and adjustment of emotional expressiveness and rumination of anger in mothers should be considered as an effective component in children's adaptation and coping skills.
