The Impact of Health Promoting Schools Approach on the Health Indicators of the Students in Boy Primary Schools of 17th District of Tehran

Abstract :
Introduction: Health promoting schools (HPS) are places that promote the health of students. This study aimed to determine the effect of health promoting schools initiative on health indicators boys' primary school in district 17 in Tehran. Methods: The study population consisted of boys 'primary school students in the health promoters (District 17) and students of other boys' primary schools (District 17), which promotes health plan does not plan to run. The sample size of 333 and 367 respectively (According to Cochran formula) were randomly selected. After confirming the validity and reliability of the questionnaire was used to collect data. For data analysis, t test was used. Findings: The findings of study indicated a significant difference on indicators of clinical services and physical activity between HPS in District 17 of Tehran and the other male elementary school students in District 17 (p ≤0.05). But there is no significant difference among the other six items. Conclusion: The establishment of health promoting Schools has not been successful regarding the investigated indicator, so the revision of the content of this plan is essential to achieve greater effectiveness. Methods: A descriptive- survey method used in this study, and the population was divided into two groups as follows: male elementary school students in District 17 of Tehran and students of the other male elementary schools in District 17 that do not run health promoting plan. After confirming validity and reliability, a questionnaire used to collect data.Findings: The findings of study indicated a significant difference on indicators of clinical services and physical activity between HPS in District 17 of Tehran and the other male elementary school students in District 17 (p ≤0.05). But there is no significant difference among the other six items. Conclusion: revision of theform and content of the health promoting schools plan to achieve more effectiveness is inevitable and necessary.Keywords: Health indicators, health-promoting schools, students
