Abstract :

In this article, the writer reviews the position of professional publication ofbooks in Iran and the effect government’s policies in this field. Studying thestate of governmental and private publishers and the role of each of them inprofessional publication, the writer reviews the methods of the government’ssupport of book publication, and discusses the positive points and the defaultsof these methods, and presenting a proposal model of the government’ssupporting method of the publication industry, the writer concludes that thegovernment should revise its policies, and in this revision: 1) the governmentshould quit being one-sided, and take all elements and factors of publicationinto consideration of these policies, and 2) planning a harmonizing structuresuch as The National Book Development Council in the country, it shouldexercise harmonious and cohesive policies in this field.
