The Explanatory Model of the Internet Applications and its Role on the Students’ Cultural Identity

Abstract :
Introduction: The Internet phenomenon, as the most powerful mean in electronic communication network and information technologies, has made it possible for people with different ideas and cultures to access the essence, structure, exchange, maintain, propagation and attain integrated data, quickly from all around the world. Aim: the main aim of this study is acknowledgment of the impact of Internet applications’ role on the students’ cultural identity. Method: this study is done with two methods of predicative and survey. The statistical population is all the students of the Islamic Azad University and the sample size of 250 was estimated with Cochran’s formula. Findings: the regression analysis of internet factors of cultural identity shows that of all variables which entered the final model (amount and time length of internet using, commercial and communicational and informational pattern) described the variance of the dependent variable. Results: of all the factors which are responsible for the application patterns to be desirable for the students, there are attending chat environments, finding friends, weblogs, social networks, presenting ideas, attitudes, feelings and freedom in delivering issues. Also, the internet application patterns has affected the ascension of students’ culture and their knowledge of cultural identity through omitting geographical borders on a local scale and making the cultural heritage, cultural symbols and subcultural available for them.
