The Effect of Social Capital on the Mental Health of Educational Women

Abstract :
The purpose of this study was the explaining mental health of educational women on the basis of social capital. Method of study was correlational and the statistical population consisted of all women teachers of Sarbaz city that with the help of Chochran's formulate 191 women selected from the population of Sarbaz city through cluster random sampling method. Questionnaires of Goldberg’s mental health (1972), social capital questionnaires of Sahami (1996) were used to collect data. Descriptive statistics and correlation and regression method were used to analyze data. The results showed that there is significant relationship between the social capital and mental health. In addition mental health’s showed significant relationship with social network and political trust. But didn’t show significant relationship with social cooperation and family trust. The regression analyzes showed that the dimensions of political trust and social network could predict mental health of educational women. Social capital creates social cohesion, confidence, and a willingness to engage in local activities. He also believes that social capital can reduce stress and health risk factors.
