Abstract :
The aim of this research to study the relationship between emotional intelligence and the spillover phenomenon of work – family and family – work among the personnel of Naein’s plants and small industry. The spillover of work to family and family to work refers to the effect of factors relative to work environment on family and vice versa. The descriptive research method is the correlation type .In this research, among 1568 people, 310 people were selected as sample by using of multistage cluster sampling procedure. In this research, the applied tools were three questionnaires: the work– family and family- work spillover questionnaire (Marks & Grezeuaks, 2000), emotional intelligence questionnaire (Bar & owen, 1997) and demographics questionnaire which was about age, education and monthly earning amount. The analysis results demonstrated that there is a meaningful and negative relationship between emotional intelligence and negative spillover phenomenon of work – family and family – work (p < 0.001). It means the higher the emotional intelligence , the lower the negative spillover (conflict) of work – family and family – work , and more positive conflict of work–family (p < 0.05) and family – work (p < 0.001). The results of relationship between individual characteristics - including age and education - and spillover of work – family and family – work indicated that there isn't any meaningful relation. There was only a meaningful relationship between income amount and negative spillover of family – work.
