Abstract :
The purpose of the present research was to compare mathematics anxiety among high school prep students based on perfectionism typology. In order to accomplish the study, the subjects composed of students ( boys and girls) were randomly selected with multistage sampling from Khoramshahr high school prep schools. Perfectionism and mathematics anxiety were measured using Frost's Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (FMPS) and Fennema-Sherman's Mathematics Anxiety Scale (MAS) respectively. Based on the results of this study and according to Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC), supported by FMPS, students can be classified into three groups. Using cluster analysis the students were classified into normal perfectionism, non-normal perfectionism and non-perfectionism types. The One way ANOVA result showed that the mean mathematics anxiety had differed significantly among the three groups of students (P < ). The results of Scheffe test also showed that normal perfectionism students had less mathematics anxiety than other students (P < ).
