Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation among alexithymia with emotional intelligence, anxiety and depression male students of Islamic Azad University, Ahvaz Branch. Statistical population included male students of Islamic Azad University, Ahvaz branch. 215 students were selected through stratified random sampling and assessed using Ahvaz Alexithymia Scale (AAS-26), Makvandi, Haydarei, Shehni Yailagh, Najarian & Askery, 2011). Petrides and Furnham Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (2001), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI, 1990) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI, 1997). In order to analysis the data, simple correlation and regression analysis method were used. The results indicated that there was a correlation between alexithymia with emotional intelligence, anxiety and depression (P < 0.01). Finally a multiple regression analysis showed that depression and social skills in emotional intelligence were significant predictors of alexithymia.
