Analyzing the role of constructivism as a new learning approach in the textbooks of elementary school

Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to analyze the contents of elementary textbooks based on the components of constructivism such as active participation of the students to facilitate casting the role of teacher, group interaction according to the formative evaluation, notice to the physical environment of learning and evaluation as a tool for developmental process learning. The used method in analyzing of the present study was Shannon Entropy Method and unit of analyzing was textbook pages (texts, questions, practices and pictures) with the sum of 3467 pages. Statistical society of all three of elementary books was 36 books in the academic year of 2009-10 in eight topics of reading Farsi, writing Farsi, sciences, sky gifts, sky gifts (homework), Quran, math and social education. Statistical sample of this study was consisted of the same topics excluding the math. The obtained results from data analysis showed that group interaction was considered more than other components and there was less notice to the physical environment of learning and evaluation as a tool for developmental process learning.
