The Relationship between Goal Orientation and Meta Cognition with Academic Self-Efficacy in Female Students of Ahvaz Branch Islamic Azad University

Abstract :
The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between goal orientation and Meta cognition with academic self-efficacy in female students of Ahvaz Branch Islamic Azad University. The sample of research included 200 subjects who were selected based on stratified random sampling. For the measurement of the variables, Midgley’s Goal Orientation Questionnaire, State Meta-cognition Inventory (ESM) and College Academic Self-efficacy Scale (CASES) were used. To analyze data Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariable regression analysis were employed as statistical methods. The results revealed that there was significant relation between goals mastery, performance-approach goals, performance-avoidance goals and meta cognition with academic self-efficacy. Also regression analysis showed that mastery goals and meta cognition were respectively predictive variables for the academic self-efficacy.
