The effectiveness of training of emotional intelligence on social anxiety, social adaptability, and mental health of students of Azad University of Ahvaz

Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of emotional intelligence training on social anxiety, social adjustment and mental health of students of Ahvaz Islamic Azad University. The study population included 60 (30 experimental and 30 control group). They were selected by simple random sampling and then randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups. A pre-test and post-test study design with a control group of both groups based on Matak and Clark social anxiety inventory (1998) and Mazaheri social adjustment (2006) and SCL-90 mental health questionnaire. A pretest was performed. The experimental group was subjected to 8 independent 90-minute sessions (emotional intelligence). Then, they were followed by both groups and one month later. A multivariate covariance analysis Manku). The results showed that the educational self-regulation strategies in the experimental group compared to the control group mean reduced social anxiety and increased social adjustment and mental health in the experimental group. Follow-up results showed that differences in follow-up scores of social anxiety, social adjustment and mental health related to the continuation of the effect of emotional intelligence training (group membership).
