Abstract :
Few groups of native Iranians cooperated with Arabs invading Iran in the beginning. However, the amount of cooperation increased as time passed. The study tries to shed light on the cooperation of people in Khorasan with Arabs in military missions in an analytic and descriptive way. In the beginning, Arabs were not optimistic about the employment of Iranians in the armed forces. However, they gradually realized that they could get to their goals better if they sought their cooperation. Military officers like Ghotibe ibn Moslem were more successful because they employed natives. Even after his being killed, Iranians kept their important status in the military. The beginning of Abbasid movement also witnessed an emphasis on employing natives in the army. This contributed to their success in winning over Ummayids.
