Cultural capital associated with motivation and academic performance of students of Tehran University

Abstract :
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between cultural capital with motivation and academic performance of students. The research is correlational. The population consisted of students of technical colleges, Social Sciences and Psychology and Educational Sciences and the Bachelor's degree. The sample size of 380 people who participated in this study were selected randomly. The data required by the questionnaire developed by the researchers that the three scale institutionalization of the cultural capital, embodied and objectified measure and reliability through Cronbach's alpha coefficient was calculated as 83% and is achievement motivation questionnaire. To analyze the data of statistics and independent T-test, Pearson correlation was used. Results indicated that institutionalized cultural capital and objectified no significant relationship with achievement motivation and academic performance. Also there is no significant relationship between capital embodied academic performance. As well as between male and female students with cultural capital (embodied, objectified and institutionalized) there is a significant relationship, and the students of the College of Humanities, Social Sciences and Technology of cultural capital (embodied, objectified and institutionalized) and There is no difference with motivation. Residential and non-residential students with cultural capital (embodied, objectified and institutionalized) there is a significant difference.
