Abstract :
Purpose: The three kinetic factors of loading rate, time to stability and impulse during landing are of the great importance for volleyball players, but so far there has been no research comparing these important factors among volleyball game’s position, especially the players of side and middle defense blockers Therefore, the aim of the present study was to compare the loading rate, time to stability and impulse between the the middle and side defense blockers during landing in volleyball block skill. Methods: 18 young elite professional male volleyball players in two groups, including 9 middle players and 9 side players, separately performed three vertical jumps on the force plate. The participants' landing kinetic data, i.e. loading rate, time to stability and impulse, were analyzed directly from the force plate outputs. Independent t-test was used to analyze and compare research variables between two groups. Results: despite the fact that the average time to stability was higher in the middle players and the average loading rate and impulse was higher in the side players, no statistically significant difference was observed in the variables of the two groups (P˂0.05). Discussion and Conclusion: volleyball players of the different position demonstrates similar behavior in selected biomechanical variables of landing of the bock defense skill. Considering biomechanics variables among the different game’s positions is a valuable tools to find out details and specific features of athletes.
