Container ports have been faced under increasing development during last 10 years. In such systems, the container transportation system has the most important effect on the total system. Therefore, there is a continuous need for the optimal use of equipment and facilities in the ports. Regarding the several complicated structure and activities in container ports, this paper evaluates and compares two different storage strategies for storing containers in the yard. To do so and covering all actual stochastic events occur in the system, a simulation model of the real system was developed using loading and unloading norms as important criteria to evaluate the performance of Shahid Rajaee container port. By replicating the simulation model and considering the two strategies, it has been shown that using a marshaling yard policy has a significant effect on the performance level of the port which leads to cost reductions. تفاصيل المقالة

In this research, a hierarchical location-allocation problem is modeled in a queue framework. The queue model is considered as M/M/1/k, in which system capacity is finite, equals to k. This is the main contribution of the current research. Customer's enters to the system in order to find the service according to a Poisson. In this problem, the hierarchical location-allocation model is considered in two levels. Also, the model has two objective functions: maximizing the total number of demand coverage and minimizing the waiting time of customers in queues to receive services. After modeling and verifying the validity of the presented model, it is solved using NSGA II and MOPSO meta-heuristics. تفاصيل المقالة

In today’s competitive transportation systems, passengers search to find traveling agencies that are able to serve them efficiently considering both traveling time and transportation costs. In this paper, we present a new model for the traveling salesman problem with multiple transporters (TSPMT). In the proposed model, which is more applicable than the traditional versions, each city has different transporting vehicles and the cost of travel through each city is dependent on the transporting vehicles type. The aim is to determine an optimal sequence of visited cities with minimum traveling times by available transporting vehicles within a limited budget. First, the mathematical model of TSPMT is presented. Next, since the problem is NP-hard, a new hybrid parallel simulated annealing algorithm with a new coding scheme is proposed. To analyze the performance of the proposed algorithm, 50 numerical examples with different budget types are examined and solved using the algorithm. The computational results of these comparisons show that the algorithm is an excellent approach in speed and solution quality. تفاصيل المقالة

The dramatic increasing of sea-freight container transportations and the developing trend for using containers in the multimodal handling systems through the sea, rail, road and land in the present market cause some challenges to the general managers of container terminals such as increasing demand, competitive situation, new investments and expansion of new activities and the need to use new methods to fulfil effective operations both along quayside and within the yard. Among these issues, minimizing the turnaround time of vessels is considered to be the first aim of every container port system. Regarding the complex structure of container ports, this paper presents a simulation model that calculates the number of trucks needed in Shahid Rajaee Container Port for handling containers between the berth and the yard. In this research, some important criteria such as vessel turnaround time, gantry crane utilization and truck utilization have been considered. By analyzing the results of the model, it will be shown that increasing the number of trucks to 66 units has a significant effect on the performance indices of the port and can increase the capacity of loading and unloading up to 10.8%. تفاصيل المقالة

Nowadays, outsourcing is viewed as a trade strategy and organizations tend to adopt new strategies to achieve competitive advantages in the current world of business. focusing on main copmpetencies, and transferring most of activities to outside resources of organization( outsourcing) is one such strategy is. In this paper, we aim to decide on decision maker agent of transportation system, by applying intelligent agent technology and using learning model which is modeled as a reinforcement learning problem. A Q-learning algorithm is proposed to solve the RL model. Results show that the proposed model given its ability to communicate with environment, adaptability with environment and correcting itself based on learnt data ,the prposed model can be applied as a better and quicker learning model in comparison with other ways of solving of decision making problems. تفاصيل المقالة

A facility layout problem is concerned with determining the best position of departments, cells, or machines on the plant. An efficient layout contributes to the overall efficiency of operations. It’s been proved that, when system characteristics change, it can cause a significant increase in material handling cost. Consequently, the efficiency of the current layout decreases or is lost and it does necessitate rearrangement. On the other hand, the rearrangement of the workstations may burden a lot of expenses on the system. The problem that considers balance between material handling cost and the rearrangement cost is known as the Dynamic Facility Layout Problem (DFLP). The objective of a DFLP is to find the best layout for the company facilities in each period of planning horizon considering the rearrangement costs. Due to the complex structure of the problem, there are few researches in the literature which tried to find near optimum solutions for DFLP with budget constraint. In this paper, a new heuristic approach has been developed by combining Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Parallel Simulated Annealing Algorithm (PSAA) which is the main contribution of the current study. The results of applying the proposed algorithm were tested over a wide range of test problems taken from the literature. The results show efficiency of the hybrid algorithm GA- to solve the Dynamic Facility Layout Problem with Budget Constraint (DFLPBC). تفاصيل المقالة
