Analysis of dialogue and questioning stages in the biography of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib and its educational implications

Abstract :
Asking questions is a path to the maturity of one's character and knowledge enrichment. Anyone who does not engage in questioning on the path to growth and perfection will not achieve excellence. Therefore, this research aims to Analysis of dialogue and questioning stages in the biography of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib and its educational implications .The study is applied in terms of purpose and conducted using an analytical-descriptive method. All available and relevant sources, including the books Nahj al-Balagha, Tuhaf al-Uqul, Mizan al-Hikmah, and Ghurar Al-Hikam, were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using researcher-made notes. Data analysis was performed through thematic coding in three stages (open, axial, and selective coding) using a deductive classification system. According to the results, the analysis of stages of conversation and questioning encompasses seven dimensions: using appropriate sentences, welcoming questions, seeking understanding, mutual dialogue, disambiguation, inference (reasoning), and interrogation (argumentation). Among these, seeking understanding and interrogation (argumentation) had the highest frequency. The educational implications of conversation and questioning based on the teachings of Imam Ali include ten dimensions: golden time, thinking and virtuous speech, learning, seizing opportunities, acquiring knowledge and wisdom, problem-solving, enlightening, guidance and behavioral correction, scholarly pursuit, and progress. The thinking and virtuous speech received the highest coding frequency. Therefore, questioning and inquiry play a critical role and can lead people to their ultimate goals.
