An analysis of variables affecting the happiness of citizens in urban areas

Abstract :
The aim of this research was to identify the factors affecting the happiness of urban girls in Islamshahr, with a focus on the Islamshahr population. The statistical population of this study was 8474 students, and based on Morgan's table, a sample size of 367 individuals was estimated and randomly selected. However, to ensure the return of all questionnaires, the researcher provided about 400 questionnaires to individuals. The measurement tools included three questionnaires: 1) the researcher-made questionnaire on socio-economic status, 2) the researcher-made questionnaire on leisure time activities, and 3) the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire. Descriptive and inferential statistical methods were used to analyze the data of this study. The chi-square and Mann-Whitney tests were used to determine the relationship between the research variables. The findings of the study showed a significant relationship (p<0.05) between leisure time activities and the level of happiness among students, but there was no significant relationship (p>0.05) between socio-economic status and happiness. Furthermore, there was a significant relationship (p<0.05) between socio-economic status and leisure time activities among students.
