Evaluation of Potential New Opportunities for Herbal Plants as Natural Products on Rumen Fermentation Patterns in vitro

Two experiments (Exp.) were conducted to determine the effects of dietary addition of five herbal plants (HP) alone or as herbal plant mixture (HPM) on in vitro gas production and ruminal fermentation patterns. In Exp. 1, five varieties of HP (garlic, eucalyptus, cinnamon, thyme, and peppermint) were added to the diet at 3 different concentrations (5, 10 and 15% of concentrate dry matter). In Exp. 2, the HPM was used at the concentration of 2, 4 and 6%. The results show that most ruminal fermentation parameters were affected by HP and HPM. The addition of HP and HPM to the diet significantly increased total in vitro gas production (b) and the fractional rate constant of gas production (c, P<0.01). Concentrations of NH3 (Exp. 1), CH4 (Exp. 1 and 2), total volatile fatty acids (Exp. 1 and 2), acetate (Exp. 1), propionate (Exp. 1 and 2) and acetate/propionate ratio (Exp. 1) were affected by HP and HPM. به منظور بررسی اثرات افزودن پنج گیاه دارویی به تنهایی (HP) یا مخلوطی از آنها (HPM) بر میزان گاز تولیدی و فراسنجههای تخمیرپذیری شکمبه، دو آزمایش برونتنی طراحی گردید. در آزمایش اول پنج گیاه دارویی (سیر، اکالیپتوس، دارچین، آویشن و نعناع فلفلی) در سه غلظت متفاوت به جیره افزوده گردید (5، 10 و 15 درصد ماده خشک کنسانتره). در آزمایش دوم مخلوط گیاهان دارویی در غلظتهای 2، 4 و 6 درصد مورد استفاده قرار گرفتند. نتایج آزمایشات نشان داد که استفاده از گیاهان دارویی به تنهایی یا مخلوط، اکثر فراسنجههای تخمیرپذیری شکمبه را تحت تأثیر قرار میدهند. افزودن HP و HPM به طور معنیداری کل گاز تولیدی از بخش قابل تخمیر (b) و نرخ ثابت تولید گاز (c) را افزایش دادند (01/0P<). غلظت آمونیاک (آزمایش اول)، متان (آزمایش اول و دوم)، کل اسیدهای چرب فرار (آزمایش اول و دوم)، استات (آزمایش اول)، پروپیونات (آزمایش اول و دوم) و نسبت استات به پروپیونات (آزمایش اول) تحت تأثیر HP و HPM قرار گرفتند. اسیدهای چرب کوتاه زنجیر شکمبه (01/0 P< و 05/0 P<به ترتیب برای زمانهای 16 و 24 ساعت انکوباسیون) و قابلیت هضم ماده آلی (OMD) با افزودن HP در ساعتهای 16 و 24 بالاتر از تیمار کنترل بود. هرچند قابلیت هضم ماده خشک (DMD) و انرژی متابولیسمی (ME) تیمار 6 درصد HPM در ساعت 24 انکوباسیون کمتر از کنترل بود (003/0 P< و 04/0P<). نتایج آزمایشات اثرات مفید HP و HPM در تغذیه نشخوارکنندگان به عنوان اصلاح کننده فرایند تخمیر شکمبه را نشان داد که میتوانند گوارشپذیری و استفاده از مواد مغذی را افزایش داده و منجر به بهبود عملکرد حیوان در شرایط درونتنی شوند.
