Abstract :

The entrance of the building is the most important part of connecting the outside and the inside of a building. The entrance of the house has found various forms in different historical periods. From physical and formal aspect: In Iranian traditional architecture, entrance of a building is a set of spaces that allow people to enter or exit the building. It is consisted of some elements like as pishkhan, heshti and additional spaces. Culture refers to a group’s way of life, or how they do things. The culture of a community is the way of life for a group that has been passed from one generation to the next. Cities are not empty pages, but narrative spaces in which particular histories, myths and parables are inscribed. These cultural coding have a cumulative effect in part the result of the process of continuous intertextuality cross-reference Historical cities are full of cultural ideas that have given rise to every idea of spatial relationships and the shape of the city. The reflections on the cultural texture of cities are intended to make clear that we are dealing with processes of long duration. Entrance as a part of building has attracted attention of a lot of researchers. Among their researches if those concerning territory and threshold issues be excluded there are many of them about body of entrance. It seems that by examining the entrance of the houses and their connection with the passage, it is possible to point out the factors that connect the inside and outside of the building in a certain period of time. Khuzestan Province has over 10,000 national and global historical monuments. It is also home to numerous archeological sites and ancient hills. Dezful is one of the ancient cities of Iran located in the southern Province of Khuzestan and along Dez River. In the present study, the suitability of entrance and passage in 20 historical Qajar houses in Shah-Roknoddin, Qala and Lurian neighborhoods (mohala) in Dezful has been investigated. The research method is descriptive analytical, as well as the method of collecting information based on library studies and field visits. The research results show; Three types of interaction between the entrance of the house and the passage in the historical context of Dezful include; The entrance spaces formed by wide passages; entrance in the narrow passage; There is an entrance to the house in a dead end, which is influenced by factors such as climate, the direction of the passage (kocheh), the amount of flow of people and the level of passage in the connection between the neighborhood (mohala) and the outside context. Entrance is not a pathway that starts from street and ends to living room. It has the potential to have other responsibilities in circulation of the house. Entrance is a key part of house that can divide different territories. It is hoped that this research will be an approach for the formation of the entrance of the house in the contemporary architectural design of houses.
